The SAT score range is between 400 and 1600 for your total score, and 200-800 for each of your two subscores. The additional sub-scores are reported for the essay which is optional ranging from 2- 8 points and for Reading, Writing and Language, and Mathematics on a 10-40 scale.

I am planning to retake the SAT in October in order to increase my chances, but II got the highest score in the essay section for my last SAT so I was considering not taking it with the essay portion.
